ROCK POOL FUN

Isn't it amazing what you can do with some offcuts of DSP and a sketch?

This great sketch at Lets get sketchy is a great example of just that:

Firstly I had to spin the sketch around and then it was sorting through some scraps on my desk and ........

here is my take on a fun sketch.  I am really pleased with the results.

DREAM

The week 3 sketch at Scrap Much
helped me with some inspiration to scrap these photos of my daughter
I have flipped the sketch around (something is have been doing a lot of lately) and it all fell into place from there.

I love the vibrancy of these papers from American Crafts.

FLYIN' FOX

The colour challenge at Scrap Much

worked perfectly for this photo of Monique on the Flyin' fox.
The colours in her top are basically the colour range except for the grey and to add this I used some "flicked mist", grey and white twine in the button and the lettering is a silver grey.

So simple but so effect.

SUNDAY BEST

Sketch #89 over at Inspired Blueprints

worked really well .....

....with cute photo of my husband and his sisters all dressed up and ready to go off to church.

I flipped the sketch as this worked better with my photo.

COCKTAILS @ 8?

For challenge #24 at My scraps and more sketches

I had fun......
....doing this layout - other than the black matting behind the photos this layout is done with two pieces of cardstock - very vanilla and the DSP Rustic Track from FabScraps which I used both sides of.  I also did the title from this paper.  The cute wee bettles co-ordinated with Monique's Jacket.

I also flipped this sketch for these photos - even if I say so myself - I am really the way it all came together.

UPON A ROCK

Week 4 sketch at Scrap Much is a great sketch with lots of elements to it .......

.... and was fun to create.
with a splash of paint here and flick mist there....  Then i found bit of netting and some buttons and bits 'n bobs to go on the net to look like a fishing net.

THE BEST THINGS IN LIFE....

I have been having a bit of a blitz on getting my daughters 21st album finished - I want a change of subject!.

So checked out a few of my favourite blogs - downloaded the sketches and off I went.

Scrap Much have this great double layout

It was just the layout I needed for these photos of Monique taken at Eastbourne Beach - these were taken by my sister one day when she was babysitting the kids for us.

YEAR 13

The April sketch challenge at Scrappin Patch came together nicely to show case off my son and his mates at there Year 13 final Prize giving evening

Yes they are all stars and proud of every single one of them - most of guys have been together since Year 7 and now it is time to head off to University - but a few of them are still together and have regular "gatherings" when they are all home.

"PUBS" with PERSONALITY

Sketch #44 at Challenge Me Happy set this layout up in a very simple but effective way.

challenge 44

This is my take on the layout - the patterned DSP worked in perfectly and them I was able to embellish it a bit.  I am really pleased as to how it worked out.

Here is a close up to the journalling on this lay out.

"1975"

The sketch #90 at Inspired Blue Prints was just the inspiration at I needed for these photos of my husband "back in the day"
and this is what i put together:

All of these photos were taken about 1975-1976 - and it was a great way to show them off.

AUTUMN ESCAPE 2013

As I wrote earlier - I have been to the wonderful Autumn Escape and enjoyed doing some fantastic classes with some very talented teachers

Whenever I see a class with the amazing Nic Howard - I am signed up asap!!!

Here are the results of Nic's classes

When doing a class with Nic - you look at the sample and say "WOW - I can't do that" - but everytime Nic shows us just how easy it is.

I am so pleased with these layouts and will be duplicating them for sure.  Bring on a bit of layering, grunge and mist.

We also has the very talented Jenni Bowlin come over from USA - and this is the double layout completed in her class

It was an amazing weekend again and I am already to repeat it again in September at Prima-artventure-2013

RAGLAN SUNSET

After being driven into town in the wonderful classic car we then had this stunning sunset to watch from our table while enjoying a lovely glass of wine.

This layout is for a colour challenge over at Scrapfriends - colour challenge

It was an amazing sunset - I have put some journalling on the tag behind the photo.

US!

I "dislike" having my photo taken but I am trying to be good and ensure there are some taken of me.  The photo I have used for this sketch over at Stuck Sketches worked well for one of these such photos.

It all came together very quickly and even my husband commented that it was a nice photo of us. This photo was taken at my Dad's 72nd Birthday lunch at the Tin Hut in Featherson.

DAD

The sketch at Creative scrappers worked perfectly with a photo recently taken at Dad 72nd Birthday

and my layout:

I loved the simplicity of the sketch and it makes Dad the "star" of the layout.

TRAVELLING IN STYLE!

Recently we celebrated our 25th Wedding Anniversary - we went over to Raglan and stayed in a great place Nikau Sanctuary.  As part of the wonderful hospitality they have these great classic cars that they will transport you into town for dinner and collect you when finished.

The sketch at Scrapmuch - week 2 was perfect to set these photos off.

My take on the sketch:

We were dropped off in town with everyone check it all out and asking a lot of questions - almost felt "famous"

& ALL THAT JAZZ

I have been away on a wonderful luxury weekend of scrapbooking with Autumn Escape scrapbooking-retreats  at the lovely Wairakei Resort.

This is my 5th time going to this event and already booked in for the September Prima-artventure-2013 - bring on September.

I took a print out of sketches to keep me busy between going to some wonderful classes.

This first layout is for Sketchabilities #89

The sketch:

and my layout:

This photo was taken at the Easter Tauranga Jazz festival - I was busy taking photo of the kids and then asked my daughter to take a photo of Jeff & I and the kids thought it would be fun to add props :).

SIBLINGS

The scrapbook challenge at just-add-ink. this month is:

JUST ADD SIBLINGS

As I am working on my daughter 21st album I came across this photo that suited the brief perfectly:

Kylie, Gavin and Monique

Aren't they cute and now they are all grown up - but they still pull the faces when the camera is pointed at them - some things never change.

I have used stampin' up card stock (Calypso Coral) and papers (Tea for Two)

STARTING SCHOOL

The week 2 sketch over at Lets Get Sketchy is a nice simple one and works well for this photo

The sketch:

I had to turn it around for this photo of my daughters first day of school.

Gosh - it is amazing what we can do with Digital photos - back in the day it was hit and miss as this photo shows - but by putting the frame around it, it brings the photo image to the front.

LOLLIPOPS

I love the sketch over at Sketchabilities

The circle tie in perfectly for these photos of the kids and their giant lollipops

Only aunties who don't have children buy these lollipops.  The kids thought they were fantastic.

The circle design worked perfectly with the circles of the lollipops.  I have used a mixture of bakers twine and found these great brads (deep in my stash) also in the lollipop design.

It was a fun layout to do - I love the bright colourful look of this layout.

FACE PAINTING

The challenge over at scrap-the-girls is a fun time challenge

Firstly it is a girls only challenge and then:
The April Challenge is -
use
BUTTONS
PAINT/MISTS
HEXAGONS

Here is my take on the challenge:

For this challenge I cut my photos into a hexagon shape, painted with my hexagon mask, splashed a bit of mist around and added buttons.
The card stock and DSP are all stampin' up - the DSP is the gorgeous "tea for two"

1ST DAY

I am still working on my daughter Monique's 21st album and look forward to a new round of sketches each month to keep the layouts flowing.

The sketch at Stuck Sketches is just what I needed for this photo.

The sketch:

I have turned this sketch around and this is how it looks
This is Monique's first day of Kindergarten.

I have used Stampin' Up Twitterpated DSP for this layout
